The AAEVT has partnered with VetLexicon to deliver foundational online equine focused courses for Equine Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, as well as for students of AVMA programs. These courses are designed as a training and educational program to provide relevant, current, and reputable information to enhance and advance your career.
The Courses vary from basic to advanced, and are divided up into 3 courses containing 5 - 10 units of focus. They are delivered all on line and are self-paced - you start, stop and pick up where you left off. There is an exam at the end of each course.
Course 1 includes:
-The Veterinary Profession- an overview
-Equine Basics
-Husbandry
-Medical Terminology
-Anatomy & Physiology
-Physical Exams
-Restraint
-Wellness
-Reproduction
Along with the 3 Courses, you will be required to complete and show proficiency in the Clinical Skills, and as well be signed off on your horsemanship skills and attend an AAEVT approved Educational Event with wet labs. These are all listed on our website: www.aaevt.org. The list of skills and the horsemanship evaluation forms are all up on our website as well. You will also need to purchase the AAEVT Equine Manual for Veterinary Technicians (published by Wiley/ Blackwell).
Upon completion of all of these requirements (within one year), you will receive a Certificate of Completion and will become an AAEVT Certified veterinary technician or assistant, depending on your current credentialed status.
